The Little Engine That Could
The Little Engine That Could
Once upon a time, there was a little engine that had to pull a long train of toys over a steep mountain. The train was very heavy, and the little engine was very small.
“I can’t pull this train over the mountain,” the little engine said. “It’s too heavy.”
But the little engine had to try. The toys on the train were for the children on the other side of the mountain, and the little engine didn’t want to let them down.
So the little engine started up the mountain. It puffed and it puffed, but the train was too heavy. The little engine started to slow down.
“I can’t do it,” the little engine said. “I’m too small.”
But then the little engine remembered something its mother had told it: “I think I can, I think I can.”
So the little engine tried again. It puffed and it puffed, and it puffed.
“I think I can, I think I can,” the little engine said.
And slowly but surely, the little engine started to move up the mountain. The train was still heavy, but the little engine was determined.
“I think I can, I think I can,” the little engine said.
And finally, the little engine reached the top of the mountain. The children cheered and clapped, and the little engine was very proud of itself.
The little engine had learned that it could do anything it set its mind to. Even if it was difficult, even if it was heavy, the little engine could do it.
Moral of the story:
Never give up on your dreams, no matter how difficult they may seem. If you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything.
